There are generally two types of braking methods for three-phase asynchronous motors: mechanical braking and electrical braking. Braking is to give a torque opposite to the direction of rotation to a three-phase asynchronous motor, causing it to quickly stop rotating. If you want to know more, let's follow the editor and take a look.
1. Mechanical braking: The method of using mechanical devices to quickly stop the motor after disconnecting the power supply is called mechanical braking. Common methods of mechanical braking are: electromagnetic holding brake and electromagnetic clutch braking.
2. Electrical braking
The electric motor generates an electromagnetic torque that is opposite to the direction of the rotor speed, causing the motor's speed to rapidly decrease. The commonly used electrical braking methods for three-phase AC asynchronous motors include energy consumption braking, reverse connection braking, and feedback braking.
(1) Reverse braking
There are two types of reverse braking for asynchronous motors. One is reverse pulling and reverse braking, which causes the motor to reverse under the action of load torque. This method cannot accurately stop the vehicle. Another method is to generate braking torque by changing the phase sequence of the three-phase power supply in the stator winding of a three-phase asynchronous motor, forcing the motor to stop quickly.
(2) Energy consumption braking
When the AC power supply of the motor is cut off, direct current is immediately applied to any two phases of the stator winding to force the motor to quickly stop running, which is called energy consumption braking.
(3) Feedback braking (also known as power generation braking or regenerative braking)
Regenerative feedback braking is the operating state of braking torque when the rotor speed exceeds the synchronous speed under the action of external torque, and the electromagnetic torque changes direction. Regenerative feedback braking is different from reverse braking and energy consumption braking, and regenerative feedback braking cannot brake to a stop state.
The above are the commonly used braking methods for three-phase asynchronous motors.
